Hi,
I was reading the article on jaas authentication (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/...html#SampleAcn ), and I was wondering how would we create a simple app to access a webpage that is password protected. From what I gather, we need to create a call back for the URL too, but the url callback requires weblogics, and I do not have that installed. Is there any other way around it? All I basically need is to read a webpage that is password protected.
yes the code does not implement the url call back, but dont we need to implement that to access a perticular website? I guess in the code he is trying to access a local host, as i do not see him input a website which he wants to access.
It could be that I have a wrong prespective of the progeam, as its my first time creating an app of this sort.

This page may help clarifying how JAAS can be used in a web server context: http://www.kopz.org/public/documents...sintomcat.html
By the way, JAAS is designed to allow the building of pluggable authorization modules (in the manner of Solaris PAMs). Therefore, when you want to use it while accessing a protected web page, it looks more logical to use it on the server side, not the client side.
Do you really want to implement an authentication module on the client side ?
