Java + Soap

Hi all,

I need to interact with a Server client using SOAP. I'm also using Java because I need an OOP language and I've used Java in the past- I know that many have Java prejudices but please leave it out. Thanks.

The instructions I've been given involve using Eclipse, and it feels like I'm just poking around and not really understanding how it works- so when it doesn't I have no idea how to fix it.

What I'm looking for is an example of code (not how to create whatever those are using an IDE) that I can manipulate using whatever text editor I choose, to actually learn how the code works.

I found http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/xml/library/x-soapcl/ but it's really old and doesn't compile.

Thanks!

titanium_geek (TG)

PS yes this is for homework, but the point of the assignment isn't to learn SOAP, it's just the method we're using to get info from the professor to use in our programs.

Hi -

Java Axis is arguably one of the best ways to do web services. It has the benefit that it's well documented, and it integrates well with Eclipse.

This tutorial might be of use to you:

Thanks Paul, every link helps.

I should add that I'm not familiar with eclipse.
