java programmer die to learn C, IDE question

Hi,

I'm experienced java programmer, but what was my furious dream is programming under *X, digging into kernel and other masochistic waste of my time.

Certainly I have lack of C/C++ experience to start.

And I have time limitations, cause most of my time I work for my employer.
So I have to steal work time for personal education and learn at work.

My office computer is Windows XP and my environment is Eclipse and there is MSVisualStudio installed.
I can't install full functional Linux distributive except cygwin..
But I can install any IDE that works on windows.

So what would you suggest?
What IDE to choose to learn C(it is my general interest) and C++?
This IDE should allow me to work on windows(although ANSI C is my primary target), then gradually(at home) transfer my education to Linux.

Please, suggest.

Thanks.

Talking

Turbo C++ will be a good start.

for more featured IDE use Watcom C++ IDE , it supports ANSI C standard more accurately

Hi!

I just now try to run it, do you have some experience with this stuff?

does it require some additional installations: separated gcc or something??

It does not work, but looks fine.

Anyway I'll read tutorials and faqs.

Thanks.
