is there nvi [Keith Bostic's vi clone] for debian?

Or, rather, is the old port of nvi/vi for Ubuntu still out there? When do certain things in vim, especially when I'm coding, things seem to get bollaxed up. I found the _real_ clone once, but lost it when I finally had to install 8.04 from CD.

Can anybody point me to the source, even old, or better yet, a binary?

thanks!
