I want some kind of portal for sections of a website, what to use?


Hello, i want to password protect some sections of a website that i run so that only trusted people can visit those sections, what options do i have to do this, preferably free ones... please let me know what you have seen and or how you would do it, thanks, MJ

If you have only a few people you want allow access to, and you're running an Apache server, you can use a htaccess file.

Hmmm,... only thing is i have been using frontpage extensions....

I suppose I could be wrong, but if you're using frontpage stuff then you're using a windows-based server and thus I doubt you're going to find a lot of help with your problem in a linux forum.

The server is in-fact linux based... MS Extensions would not be a success if they could not be used on a linux server ... but yeah, like i said it is a linux server. so thats why i ask Thanks tho,
