html image load
 
how to make images in html load in stages - first roughly, then less and less rough??
does it depend on image type?? (jpg,gif?)

That is a certain type of jpg. If you open your image with gimp, and save it again, click on 'Advanced Properties' in the save dialogue and select 'Progressive'.
