HSQLDB - Has anybody used it?

Hi folks,

I'm considering using HSQL database for my apps since I need a good and reliable light weight database. I used Microsoft Data Access Components and JET under Windows.

Has anyone had experience with HSQL??? What do you think of it??? Is it easy to use / connect to???

I choose HSQL because Open Office Base will use it was the default database engine, so this can't be bad ^^

I'm kind a noob at Database so any tutorial would be greatly appreciated (it would be wonderful if it was in pascal, but I know java and c well).

Thanks,

Felipe

HSQL homapage has a good step-by-step documentation. Also there is a nice article at IBM developerWorks for using HSQL with Eclipse. Here is part one: http://www-106.ibm.com/developerwork...ary/os-echsql/

It doesn't have anything as schema or database, since it is used for embedded systems, or as a builtin database egine.
If you want a standalone application with a db within it, HSQL is a good solution. It also properly integrated in Java applications.
