How to write driver for my Broadcom 570 ethernet card in my DEll D600 laptopn?


Hi,
I want to write a network driver for my broadcom 570 ethernet card which is in my laptopn Dell D600 Latitude

Please help me out

Why??? Anything wrong with the tg3 driver that part of a modern kernel??? The code is available, just download the kernel and have a look.

there is nothing wrong with the current driver but I want to be able to write my own driver
can you tell me where is the code in the kernel that i need to see specific directory

I am new to linux

With the latest kernel source extracted in the 'textbook' location the code can be found and reviewed in the /usr/src/linux-2.6.23.1/drivers/net directory location;

$ ls -al tg3*
-rw-rw-r-- 1 root root 358069 Oct 12 12:43 tg3.c
-rw-rw-r-- 1 root root 89607 Oct 12 12:43 tg3.h

Hi Could you tell me the basic or can I get a tutorial on how to write the network driver for Linux

I really need to develop this driver and I would really appreciate all the help I can get
