Cool How to write device driver program using Python in linux


Hi friends i am novice in python.. But i want to write a device driver programming using python..like (Nokia 5310 music express mobile driver, USB driver etc..[any one]). Can you help me? Any suggestions are welcome... Hope for fruit full reply.

Hi, welcome to LQ!

Now, I'm not an expert in device driver programming, but
I don't think you can write a driver in Python. There's
no python interpreter available for kernel level stuff,
you'll need to learn C or assembly for that.

Do you have a book on device drivers?--eg "Linux Device Drivers" by Greg Kroah-Hartmann

Do you have the interface specs for the devices you mention?

You can write a userspace piece in python, but anything that you have to hook into the kernel has to be C or assembler.
