How to get started with Mono?

I have just installed Mono 1.0.6 on my Ubuntu Warty system. I have been playing around with monodevelop a little bit.

Anyways, I was just wondering, could everyone please recommend how to get started in learning how to program in C# with no MS specific stuff plz. I have no experience with C or C++. Nor Java, nor anything else . A link to a really good book as well as some online howtos would be greatly appreciated for C#.

Anyways, talk to everyone later.
