how to create a standard package


I have my source code of project and i want to create a stanard package in tar.gz like we get from sourceforge.net.
for that i came to know some autoconf/automake is used. What i want is instead of going thro' man pages of all those commands, is there any
online document/link that desrcibe all that procedure in single page that mean how to create a standard package ?

theres a short and quick intro example for autoconf/make to produce a distribution tarball ::

taken from this application which is an IDE for Linux said to be able to generated source tarball and rpm ::motor
