Talking how many c++ compiler are there in Linux world???

I can only find g++ for compiling c++ source code. C'mon. Linux is about freedom, right?!!! Freedom to choose. I don't want to depend only for one compiler. In M$ world, you can use Borland product or MSVC. Even g++ exist in M$ world. So at least you have 3 good compilers in M$ world. What about Linux? only g++? Ok, I found another one. Intel C++ compiler. But it is depend on machine architecture. I didn't say that g++ is not good but we need more good C++ compiler, right?!!!! I think Linux is lack of C++ compiler. So, guys, what do you think???

Freedom to write your own compilers if you don't like what's offered for free.

I'm not sure what exactly you are expecting for free. The GNU C/C++ compiler is excellent when compared to others on the market. Writing compilers is _very_ complicated, there is not much incentive for a company to develop a good compiler that can compete against GNU in the Linux environment. I've used MSVC, IBM Visual Age, Sun's Compiler (to name a few) and when comparing these compilers costing thousands of dollars to GNU C/C++, GNU is still better.

We've had to pay IBM in support calls for them to fix issues with the VACPP compiler. I've run into three problems in the last year where IBM had to issue me a compiler patch. The exact same code compiles fine with GNU. I've yet to run into an issue with the GNU compiler. It's a very good free offering IMHO, and I don't find the need to say that freedom means other people should write free compilers and software because there is only one offering.
