help on driver for USB HID device(finger print) in Linux

hello all

I am new to Linux programming and need to write or get a driver for a USB device which is a Human Interface Device(HID) class finger print device. If there is already some thing then what is that and how to use it and if not then how should I start to write the driver...

BTW: congratulations on a goot thread - clear title and message body. Have you tried checking the manufacturer of you particular fingerprint reader (or is that you?) to see if they already have a driver for linux or an open source driver?
