I have a lexmark z1310 printer from the z1300 series someone gave me, but I canīt get it working under Ubuntu or knoppix. I asked in lexmark.com if they could give me the driver for linux but they donīt have one and they simply donīt care about linux. I found out in an ubuntu forum that others users that are in the same situation than me have been looking for a driver for a while without success. I would like to know how hard it is to write a device driver for my printer and If anyone here could give me anything to get strated with. Thanks
Check their international pages. I found a Canon driver for my iP1700 on a New Zealand Canon page under iP2200 (I think,) which means they had different model numbers for the same thing, plus Linux drivers.

I havenīt read that. I am going to try that driver and I hope that will solve my printer problem, but I would really like to write a simple device driver for a printer, a mouse or keyboard and I was hopping someone could help me get started with that.
