Hard Drive Restoration Tools

Hey I think I wiped an important part of my hard drive
with assembly language. There aren't any partitions and
the output of fdisk -l is:
Code:
Disk /dev/hda: 320.0 GB, 320072933376 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00000000

Disk /dev/hda doesn't contain a valid partition table
I was hoping there would be a way to simply fix the boot sector and restore the lost partitions.

As is constantly pointed out, you may think it's urgent, but it ain't to the rest of us.

How much fun did you have - was it just the first sector you trashed, or more ?. How many more ?.
What partition structure was it using - MBR or gpt ?.
How good are your backups ?. I think I know the answer to this one.

If MBR and only the first one/few sector(s), then testdisk is probably your saviour. As for the boot-loader, simply fix it by re-installing after fixing the partitions - from a chroot or liveCD.
