GUI application design toolkits. which one?

Can someone point me into the right direction when it comes to GUI application programming? I mainly work in Linux, but I would like my apps to be easily portable to FreeBSD and Windows XP.

Is wxwidgets (gtk+) the best option? How do Qt and Glade compare? Are there any other toolkits?

Note: Mention anything, but I want to work in C and C++.

Wxwidgets is probably the best option (free on Unix and Windows). For apps you don't need to port to Windows, consider also Qt (Windows license is quite expensive).

thanks for response. So a win32 user will have to pay for a license to get the GUI QT libs to run my application?

No they would not pay for the license, you pay for it and distribute the dlls with your application. As Mara said it is quite expensive. I would also suggest gtk+ if you want cross platform. It is not worth the money for a Qt license unless you are a very serious commerial developer.
