gtk coding...

i'm trying to learn how to code GTK, but the problem i'm having is it won't compile. the first error i get is this, and i think this is what causes the rest of the errors.

base.c:1:21: gtk/gtk.h: No such file or directory

so it can't find the gtk header file, how can i point it in the direction of this?

i'm using slackware 9.0 with dropline GNOME. any help would be appreciated, thanks

well did you install the gtk package
http://gtk.org/download/
also you should mention if you are programming in gtk 1.2, 2.0, or 2.2

i'd certainly advise using gtk2 now, and not old gtk, it's much more advanced with a more suitable API
