gprof: gmon.out file is missing call-graph data


hello

i tried to use gprof it is give some error

gcc -g -pg -Wall scan.c -o scan

./scan

gprof scan gmon.out > LOG

now it gives me the error
gprof: gmon.out file is missing call-graph data

could some one help me how to rectify this error
