Question #Defines help

Does anyone know how the # preprocessor directives are
determined for autoconfig?

Is there a definitive set somewhere or what? I know that if i use the define, #HAVE_PRINTF in code itll be true if I do infact have printf, but how do i know what #defines i can use?
