get packets from kernel and processing them and reinject


Hi

Anybody know what's the best API or package to get packets from kernel and do some processing on packet header or payload and reinject just some of the packets to network ?

Haven't used it but suspect this is the first place to look:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkeley_Packet_Filter
http://www.tcpdump.org/papers/bpf-usenix93.pdf mentions a packet generator
