FVWM events

Hi,

I am very new and the first time I am working on FVWM and in Linux. I have to write code in C to subscribe if New Windows get opened in any Process using socket(default 127.0.0.1:10010). Check if this Windows Id of a new window is matching to given process id.

Please let me know if any of you have any information regarding same and/or better way to using FVWM api's possible with sample code.

Actually, I want to monitor(know Window Ids) all the Windows opened for a particular process(input as Process Id).

Thanks

DBus sounds like what you're looking for
It's IPCS userspace API which catches signals from applications starting inside the node level namespace.

I don't have option to choose DBus, I have to use X11 things and that too without using XC-APPGROUP X11 extension ( XAppGroup extension )

Sorry you didn't get any replys. I don't know GUI, but maybe others would reply
if you could provide a few more details on what code you might try.

I found a few things from this web-search:
Quote:
xorg|fvwm "new window" notification
but I don't know whether any of that is relevant (since I don't know X11 api)

Best wishes and welcome to LQ! p.s. a famous link: http://catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

i'm not sure what you're trying to achieve, but maybe you're looking in the wrong place.
maybe FVWM is completely irrelevant for what you want, and you should rather look into things liek Xlibs, X protocols, NETWM, EWMH etc.
