free CVS needed

Hi ,

I'm searching for a free CVS sever urgently

PLZ help

THANKS

XavierP 06-27-2005 04:26 PM

I like to suggest this site as a good place to look. And please don't post "urgent" threads, just because it's urgent to you does not mean that it's urgent to all the volunteers on LQ.

sorry , But i thought that this place for developers that do their best to help others , whatever the help kind was , and regardless the help was urgent or not

i know this site well (i think much than u) , but i didn't found a good free CVS server

Are you sure? I just went to Google, typed "free cvs server" as the search string, and the 6th entry listed on the front page linked to a message thread where someone asked the same question you are, and received responses for two different sites.

Before discounting someone's suggestion, it might be best to investigate it again if you've already looked into it before. Especially in this case, because I don't think looking through six whole links could be considered a tough task.

for Dark_Helmet
thx for ur help !! , but if tried to see the first 6 entries , u'll find it for specific projects for private usage (not free) .

i'm searching for a free public CVS server (not urgently :D ) , that i can access it from eclipse

thx

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Both sites referred to in the link I mentioned are for free (as in cost) CVS server hosting. In addition, both are for free (as in license; open source) projects. So I don't understand how they could be considered not free.

Specifically, the sites mentioned are SourceForge and Savannah

SourceForge allows for premium subscriptions (with fees attached), but to my knowledge, the basic hosting service is free.

Perhaps he's looking for free as in "free for me to do whatever I want": in which case, he'll be unlikely to find it.

Dark_Helmet: on a separate note, thanks for the link to Savannah. I wasn't familiar with it, but it looks like a pretty nice service.

You could always just read the CVS manual and figure out how to setup a CVS repository of your own. It is really quite a painless process.

Matir 06-28-2005 11:19 AM

And it would, of course, give you the ability to do whatever you want with it.

THX FOR ALL REPLIES

I can't help but wonder if the middle vowels in that name are switched. :)

NO PROBLEM. :)

Yes Matir , it has changed already to "did" :)
