hi there,

i don't know wich distro you use but g77 will do the trick.
if you need fortran 90 is not so easy, AFAIK there is an INTEL compiler free but you must register and blahblahblah..
if you have mandrake installed try that at the terminal prompt..
Code:
g77 your_program.f -o executable
and now you have the simplest way to compile a program.

You should look out for F, wich can be downloaded free from www.fortran.com (the fortran company). There are some tutorials, as well as a pdf about the compiler.

Hope you are still interested in the issue! (it's been more than a month).

G95 at http:///www.g95.org and gfortran (now part of gcc) at http://www.gfortran.org , especially g95 if you want to use the full Fortran 95 language. Both compilers can also be used to compile Fortran 77 code.
