Filesystems in linux

Hi , this is swanand.
We are currently doing a project in linux filesystems, particularly ext2.
Can anyone of you help in solving our problems?
If yes, I would be very grateful to you.
Firstly, We want to make a change in the open system call such that when we open a symbolic link, the access date of the symbolic link should also change.
Currently, if we access the symbilic link, the last access time of the file that it points to gets changed.
Can anyone give me a clue as to where do i need to make the necessary changes so that the last access date of the symbolic link also changes when it is accessed?
Thank you.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
