Faster eclipse

Hi'

I use eclipse 3.1 for my java programming both under windows and linux. I find that it runs faster under windows than under linux. I think it is due to the way threads are implemented under linux.

Is there a workaround? How do I make eclipse run faster, without losing much functionality?

I'm using,

Slackware 10.1
Kernel 2.6.10

I don't know of any eclipse settings that could help. At the worst, you might need to compile it from the source on your machine.

The easiest solution might be just giving it more memory. Do something like this when starting it up:

eclipse -vmargs -Xmx512M

eclipse runs faster on windows because of SWT tights links with windows native graphic library.
If you want a fast and portable IDE under Linux (or Solaris), try netbeans.

You misread my comment, there is a Linux version of SWT, but it's not as optimized as the Windows' one.

I heard about the natively compiled eclipse for Linux.

Where can I find a slackware package of it??
