Embedded system programming


hello everone,
I am an intermediate system adminsitrator also going to appear for RHCE next year,

BUT this post is regarding programming in which i can be considered a newbaby.

I am currently in 2nd Year B.E.
my aim to work on microcontrollers,
for this upto the best of my knowledge
i need to firstly lear 8086 programming (assembly level)
and then head for microcontrollers

i have also heard about a project named uCLINUX, cna any one give me more details

also if i get uCLinux what can i do with it.

PLEASE EXPLAIN CONSIDERING ME AS A NEWBABIE IN PROGRAMMING
