emacs key bindings within putty


My friend has asked for me to find out how keys are bound while in putty. For some reason, when he uses delete .. it doesnt work.
I told him to do bind -x '"\X7F": "DEL"' but im not sure if this is the right approach. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
