designing a software package and overhauling it

hi all.
i work at a place where they are nearly done with a product. something they have spent a lot of time, but not enough thought on.
the product they've built is a standalone application, while what they actually have is a client-server model.
its quite a simple product really (but of course the higher-ups think otherwise), but im not sure where to start so late in the development stage (they'e close to marketing it.)
all we use is this application and a database. nothing all too complex, but lot of spaghetti code.

any suggestions? how would you go about overhauling something like this? what would be the first place to start (thing is - I don't even have the source to work on - what I can do, however, is make suggestions as I'm asking here.)

thanks again, as always.

well, that's exactly what i would do too. but i wont be allowed to. and i dont even get the time to work on it when i get home cos of other things i have to take care of.

that being said, the only option is some kinda work-around. (yeah, im pretty much a blind man groping in the dark.)
