Date picker control

Hi,

Not sure how to word this question but here goes... I am from a Windows programming background and am experimenting with Linux, controls in particular. I want to use a date picker control which I believe exists in Linux, normalling in Windows I would use the CreateWindowEx() function using "DateTimerPicker32" (Or something like that), then set it's style and stuff.

Now, I have absolutely no clue where to start in Linux, is there a similar API call in Linux? What would be the class name I need to call?

Any help in this greatly appreciated as I would really like to get something working in Linux.

Thanks!

Is it for a GUI program ? In this case, that depends on the GUI api
(mainly QT or GTK/GTK-2)

Thanks for the reply, it is for a GUI, it will be primarily for use in KDE but possibly GNOME too, which should I be using for that? Excuse the stupid questions but Linux development is new to me and I'm trying to get to grips with it.

Gnome use GTK2 and is in C language
KDE use QT and is in C++ language

Which do you prefer ? (both are compatible)

I think I will be going for QT to start with then as that is what it will be used with at first, I am also familiar with C++.

So my next question would be how do I go about creating controls and windows with QT/C++, is there a development environment I should use?
