Question crossplatform enterprise forms-2-database type app, recommendations?

I need to create a forms to database type multi-tier application. The target platform for the thick client portion of the project is Windows. Basically its a forms app that will talk to a business layer/database.

These days I would normally get this done in .Net/C#, but the customer is open to Linux, and plans to head that way in the future. So they would be happy to have cross-platform code. Winforms on Mono is to far behind (1.1) and looks a bit unstable yet to me. Gtk# I might consider. And Java might be an ok solution with me, but the customer isn't into that. C/C++ is prefered. Qt appears to have a $3500 license, so that is out. The only alternatives I see are GTK and wxWidgets. Do these have decent form designer tools? Database code generators? I really need these things because thats what MS Visual Studio gives you and it saves alot of time/money for these kinds of apps.

Form designer is #1 priority. Database code generator would be nice.

Any tips or experience is appreciated. Or if you know a better place to ask this question, let me know.

thanks
