cron and PHP

Im doing an php interface for cron and it is working fine. But with a litle problem, when i enter a new line its OK, but when i go to modify an existing line that line stops working.

To enter a new line, at the end i run this command

sudo /usr/bin/crontab /var/spool/cron/crontabs/www-data -u www-data

To modify a line i run the same command at the end and is not working

Any ideias????
