Creating a PHP templating system - any ideas?

I'm going to work on a new PHP script that will create a link directory website and I wanted some ideas on how to create a templating system where I can separate the content from the code.

I have searched the web ages for this, but all I get is 3rd party PHP script sites. I want an idea of the logic so that I can create my own templating system. Even no code examples are required. I would just like some detailed pseudo code or logical code.

The application will be simple, but I am going to create registration for users so that users have to sign up before submitting links and also a moderation feature where links will have to be approved before they appear.

By the way I am going to write this in XHTML fully compliant code.

Hmm... today I searched using a different string and found one. For those interested in templating in PHP, I found this excellent little tutorial,

http://codewalkers.com/tutorials/58/1.html

This is a very basic templating system, very simple and easy to implement too.
