Hello ,
Say I have a set of RPMs built from source and I want to create a distribution on a CD. Can any one point some resources on the net to do this task.
I don't know of any resources like that, specifically, but the Linux From Scratch site might give you some ideas on the subject. I've thought about doing something like that too, but it sounds like a big undertaking! It would be quite cool to tailor your very own distribution of exactly what you want your Linux to be like.
You can't really make a distro from rpms, but if you just want to modify a distro by adding progs and such all you do is write a shell script to install them all.
Are there any guides on installer basic theory, or is every distro's choice being based on Anaconda's (RedHat installer) code ? Because LFS is nice, but installing isn't covered (last time I checked).
I'd be interested also in any links to "installer theory"...a friend and I are toying with the idea of making a specialized distro with the goal of starting a consulting business based on linux.
