Has anyone successfully connected from a linux box to an Azure database? I am working on some suggestions from another thread, but should that fail, I thought I should ask ahead of time.

I am using php and was able to successfully connect to Azure, but I was not able to use mssql_select_db to change out of 'master' to the desired database.

I have been using the typical LAMP setup for years; it just works! This is my first venture into accessing Azure from linux. Azure does not even play nice with M$'s other software! We had quite a bit of difficulty connecting server 2008 with php To Azure.

Installation suggestions from that other thread have been unsuccessful. If anyone could provide some insight to connect linux to an Azure database, please let me know.

PDO::getAvailableDrivers() returns an array of dblib & mysql. Using "dblib:driver=odbc driver 11 for sql server", I receive error "SQLSTATE[HY000] Unable to connect: Adaptive Server is unavailable or does not exist (severity 9)".
