compiling c++ in SUSE 10.0

I've tried many times to compile my c++ program using this code
"g++ copyMove.cpp -o copyMove"
Any alternative code to compile it?

Yeah, that's generally how you compile C++ programs under Linux. Did you have problems? If you need help, you'll need to tell us what went wrong..

Don't know, you might want to look at SUSE's documentation. It probably has an "install software" section or something similar, so you may want to try and use that. Also, gcc is for compiling C programs. For C++, you'll want g++ and the package name may be gcc-c++-<version> or gcc-g++-<version>. Having said that, you'll probably still want to install gcc as well.

In YaST, Software->Installation, choose a filter named "Selections". Hopefully, there's an item called "C/C++ Compiler and Tools" or similar. Select it, and you should be fine.
But note that my desktop's in German, I had guess what the English translation of the menu items might be.

He did say his menus are in German. Do you have SUSE CDs? I'm guessing if you choose "Installation source", it will allow you to install from the CDs.

It's easy enough to do from the online update.
Yast->online update->(choose server)
then inside Yast
Package groups->Development->languages and select the compiler.
