compilation error - wsprintf

I am using RedHat Linux version 7.1.

When i program using wsprintf function, i get the compilation error. Being an ANSI C function, i expect it to be part of glibc.
I am realy confused about the behaviour.

Please explain me in understanding the situation.

thanks,
Rajaram.

i get the impression that wsprintf is related to winsock... a windows thing. not sure if it's useful, but i think it's availiable in
http://www-stat.uni-klu.ac.at/RPMS/u....7-1.i386.html

might be standard for windows, but why would expect it here?

wsprintf is not an ANSI C function. sprintf is a ANSI C function. Since they basically both do the same thing I suggest you use the sprintf. I don't know why Microsoft keeps making their own functions to everything. They like reinventing the wheel but they always make sure they add something to it so they aren't totally the same.
The biggest difference is that it supports unicode. But if you aren't gonna use it anyways sprintf should be more then enough for you.

wsprintf is an sprintf version for wchar_t (wide strings). I don't have my copy of the Standard C library book handy so I can't verify whether this is part of the standard or not. I do believe however that wchar_t's are.
