CLI command line recall

I have written a bash CLI to help with some simple storage setups, but I would like to figure out a way to get a command line recall to work. My program sits in a command=> prompt and I can enter the commands one after another.

Has anyone else written a simple bash CLI and been able to get command line recalling to work?

I have tried setting up the HISTSIZE=10 inside the script, but that didn't work.
