I'm actually sending Alaios a copy of K & R. I totally agree: it *is* the bible. And I totally disagree with those who say "it's good ... but it's not for beginners". I think that any reasonably bright person who's motivated enough to work through some of the exercises - and who has a resource like a teacher - or the folks at LQ - to ask questions of, should have no problem whatsoever. And if you're starting out ... why start out with second best? IMHO...
