capital letters on Fat32

I have a fat32 partition, and I want to use autotools on some libraries/packages on it. Specifically a game. I've been working on a game and really would like to share it.

The problem is when using autotools, I need to make README, and other files in capital letters, and some with varying case. The autotools(automake) complain that the file system can't "agree" on case and everytime I try to make README, it becomes "readme" (not same case).

What are somethings I can do?

Thank you

I'm not really sure. My understanding has always been that FAT32 simply ignores case in filenames, so that "file" and "FiLe" would be the same thing.

At the same time, I have never had a problem naming a file in capitals. It generally stays whatever you originally name it, the only problem comes when you want to change the capitalization of the filename, as it will complain the file already exists. Are you mounting the filesystem as vfat?

Yes, I'm mounting it as vfat.

Edit:

I found a sollution here

In Summery:

Open /etc/fstab
find the line related to that partition
in the 4'th column where the options are e.g. defaults,users... simply add shortname=mixed

e.g.
Code:
/dev/sda1 /mnt/windows vfat shortname=mixed,defaults,users,exec,noatime,sync 1 0
