Can I "submit" an HTML <Form> with Javascript?

HI all!

Is there any way of "submitting" and HTML <Form> without actually letting the user click on the "submit" or whatever button?
Can I call a javascript statement to do this?
Something like this.formName.buttonName.click(); ?

Yes, more or less. There just is no reference to any button, since there is none, and I think the form function to call is "submit()".
