Booting to Slideshow

I may not be in the right forum, but I figure programmers would know :)

I am working on a college project and want to finish it with a bang.

I'm trying to make a linux CD that boots on CD (like knoppix) but when it boots it just goes to a series of changing jpegs instead of booting to the system (to impress the ladies).

I've tried a few things and have a general idea of what i'm doing, but then again I may have no clue what i'm doing. I've tried changing the load image when syslinux enters xwin, but it won't change or it comes up all blurry.

please help, I need a good grade :-)

thanks!
adam

Stick a script that launches the slide show in
~/.kde/Autostart

Get a slide show program here
http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=slide...ojects&x=0&y=0

Learn how to customize knoppix here

Have a nice day.

Thanks, you're the greatest!

Seems a little strung out though. I've seen what I want to do done before, but I don't know how the guy did it.

I know it booted to syslinux, detected things, then booted to X with no icons or anything (the plain old grey one) and BAM! an Image came up full screen and switched every 60 seconds.

There's actually a distro that does that
it uses the framebuffer. When you said
"like knoppix" I thought you wanted
exactly knoppix only slightly different.
I think I have the name of that distro
written down somewhere.

I'll get back to you.

For some reason their page is down but there's always google...

==> SlideShow

Starting from MoviX 0.8.1pre2, this option allows to visualize all images under some directory chosen by you.
A DirBrowser menu will let you choose a dir and each picture file under it will be visualized by the 'fbi' binary with a temporal distance of 5 seconds.

Is there a particular reason for posting this
twice? :P

You can't re-post in a different discussion forum when no one in the first one can answer your question to your satisfaction or needs?

You did have replies in the original post, and
this copy was barely half a day later? That's
a no as far as I'm concerned.
