It's easier to ssh from xterms than the console, specially when using different operating systems.

Anyway I love konsole from KDE. One of its nicest features is typing on just one terminal and the whole input is sent to every session and of course the monitoring for silence/activity.

I use xterm on my old computer (it's the only thing that runs fast enough for me), but konsole/gnome-terminal on the newer ones.
for the non-programming stuff, I use yakuake.

oh, what about tty*?

Xterm with tabs and I'd go back immediately. I miss the Ctrl and click menus.

I think I would have to concurr with this - the tabbed feature is very handy, and has my vote.

xterm + fluxbox = tabbed xterm

And a bunch more free memory :D

xterm is OK. But I prefer the anti-aliased fonts and tabs. Since I prefer gnome/gtk stuff over KDE/Qt I use gnome-terminal.

But, not matter which one, the first to support tabs and split screen will be my next favourite.

If you would like an extremely lightweight terminal application (ie. one without KDE/Qt or GNOME/GTK+ dependencies), that's tabbed, check out mrxvt!

gnome terminantor

gnome terminator did it for me.
Split-window terminal works much better than tabs.
