best free C++ compiler


which is the best free c++ compiler for linux which comes with a huge library i can download

well if you have linux installed then you already have the best, the GNU Compiler, gcc...try this...

% gcc -v

thatll show you the version of your compiler... you can check out the GCC homepage at http://gcc.gnu.org/

alone this is just a command line compiler... if you are looking for an IDE i would recommend KDevelop... but you cant beat kwrite and a term window in my book!

a quick start to gcc with c++ programs would be..

% g++ YOUR_SOURCE_FILE -Wall -o runMe

a binary will be made(hopefully!) in the current directory called runMe...
