beep does not work


Hy!

I would like to make my server beep if a script gets to a special point:
-------------------------------------
if ( ! /bin/fuser -sn tcp 389); then
beep
fi
-------------------------------------

There is no beep coming!

What should i do ?

I found

echo 'beep'

or

echo '\a'

is there something nicer ???

Nicer? If you really want to use the command 'beep' then you can write a tiny script and throw it in your path:

#! /bin/sh
echo '\a'

Should use '-e' option for 'echo', otherwise it will just print \a.
Like this:
