Hi -

Same answer for both Python and Ruby:
Quote:
Q: Anyone here use [python |ruby]?
A: Yes - many of us

Q: What are some popular web applications ... that use [python |ruby]?
A: Notably, Django and Zope; or Ruby on Rails, respectively
But that's not really the whole story. There are hundreds (thousands) of web- and desktop- applications that use these languages. For example, I use WinCVS as the standard CVS client on my Windows PC every day. Python

And thousands (or millions) of real-world developers and system administrators who write one-offs to solve ordinary problems with either or both of these tools.

Here are a couple of other resources that might be of interest to you:

http://www.python.org/about/apps/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Python_software

And finally, you might also be interested in the ever-popular Tiobe Index.

'Hope that helps!
