antivirus signature updating

Seeing that with NAI (McAffee) you require to download the latest dat files, extract, etc and looking at Sophos where you should download the latest IDE files to keep the system 100% updated I'm wondering if there is interest in a wrapper for antiviris signatures updating.

like "plugins" for automatically updating
mcaffee
sophos

and others. Anybody who has interest / ideas, etc just drop me a note. I suggest the using of shell scripts or perl. Suggestions ?
