404 error using JSP on tomcat

Hi
I`m using Tomcat 5.5.15 on Slackware 10.2
My HTML files run fine on tomcat but while accessing JSP it gives error 404 : The requested resource (/Simple.jsp) is not available.
The JSP examples given with tomcat are also running fine.

Both, my html and jsp files are in the same directory /opt/java-app-server/webapps/username
I set JAVA_HOME to my jdk 1.5.0 in my home directory (I set it each time before i start tomcat).

Do i need to set any other variables or edit any config file ?
Thanks!!

I'm used to working with Tomcat 5.0.28 on Windows, so I can't tell you the right paths to check.

Tomcat prints errors and occasional status messages to the log files. You might be able to check those for information.

Other than that, the page mappings are handled by application XML files. Did you put any mappings for the jsp file in place?
