32bit Integer and 64bit Pointer

When compiling code for mpiJava (designed under 32bit) on an Amd64 system, I got the following error:
warning: cast to pointer from integer of different size

The following is one of the lines that is causeing problems:
sargs = (char**)calloc(len+1, sizeof(char*));

I don't quite understand why there would be an error here since calloc is returning a pointer to the memory.
