i am unable to get unsuccessfull logins log using lastb command. can anyone tell me how to.though i am able to get successfull logins log using last command.
Does the file /var/log/btmp exist on your system? If not, you need to create it since it's not created automatically. You can create it (as root) with the following:
Yes file exists and i have given the file permissions same as wtmp and the owner and group of wtmp is adm:adm so i have given the same owner ship to btmp too. yet i am unable to get the unsuccessfull log!!
