Sys V, old computer and missing root password

I have old NCR Tower 32/600 (terminal server) from late 80's and I'd like to get it up and running just for fun. It already has working system V in it, but the only problem is that I haven't got root password or installation tapes to make a fresh install.
Taking the hard drive out and modifying the password file isn't an option, since it's MFM hard drive and I don't have MFM controller to read it anywhere else.
It has a DD floppy drive, so it can be used.
There's a switch that switches between manual and automatic startup. Automatic loads the OS from hard drive and the manual setup lets me to load OS from some other device and some other things.

All information about that computer is welcome even if it's not related to my problem, since I can't find very much information related to it.

EDIT: I forgot to tell that I don't have any password for it.

See if you can find a slackware boot floppy for it. The goal would be to install slackware. Otherwise, you may be able to use the boot floppy to mount the hard drive and edit the password file if you need to keep the old Unix.

You can say that again. I looked around Google a bit and there is not much at all.
I found info that said the version of NCR System V may be very close to generic AT&T UNIX, and info about recovering provided you already knew the password and have (I assume) the original software tapes (OOS tape?).
What sort of drives does the computer have? Floppy (what size)? CD? Only tape?
How far do you get with bootup? Up to a user prompt? Is info about the software version displayed?

The floppy drive is 3,5" DD drive. Tape drive is QIC-150 and I may have blank tapes for it, so system tape images or something would be nice.
I don't have any installation tapes and chances for getting a copy are quite small.
But the boot floppy would be a good idea, just have to get something that can be used to boot it.

The computer has a custom MMU, so It makes getting a different OS harder. NetBSD should have some port for Tower32 but I can't find the right one.

The system goes to login prompt when I boot it. I got it from guy who got it from one company. In the company the server has probably been just a "noisy monster in a cellar" and nobody knows anything about it even there.
I know one account in it, it's probably for cash register etc, when I log in, it searches some device (can't remember what device) maybe modem to connect to some central computer. I think it doesn't help.
